This 2-day trip begins and ends in Marrakech, with the option to extend your holiday in the Atlas Mountains for a deeper experience. Embark on an easy and enriching trek through the High Atlas Mountains, offering a genuine connection with the Berber way of life. This route takes you across two picturesque valleys, through traditional villages and terraced farmlands, with an overnight stay in the beautiful Imnane Valley—one of the region’s most important and historic Berber settlements. As you travel through the valleys, you’ll pass tiny hamlets and hillside villages, home to Berber communities who have maintained their traditions for generations. You’ll visit their homes, observe their terraced fields of corn and barley, and gain insight into their day-to-day life as farmers and herders. The night is spent in a Berber family guesthouse, where you’ll share a traditional meal and experience their legendary hospitality. This short but memorable journey perfectly blends natural beauty, cultural immersion, and peaceful mountain scenery. Ideal for those looking to experience authentic rural Morocco within just two days from Marrakech.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Marrakech – Tahnaout – Asni – Imlil Valley 1740m – Tizi Ntamatert pass 2379m – Imnane Valley - Night in Local Village

    Transfer from Marrakech to Imlil, then set out towards the east; up winding mule tracks to the tizi n' tamaterte (2279m) to enjoy the amazing panorama of the surrounding atlas mountain range peaks and valleys on our way to our picnic spot on the tizi n'tamaterte , overlooking jbel Oukaimeden and the beautiful encircled plateau. After lunch, we'll follow the path down to Imnane Valley until our gite d'etape in Wanskra village. 5 to 6 hours walking.

  • Day 2: Tachdirth Village 2600m – Ikkis Village – Ttizi N'aguersiwal 2000 m – aguersiwal Village – imlil - Marrakech

    After breakfast, we descend through the Imnane Valley, passing several traditional Berber hamlets along the way. We then ascend to the Tizi n’Aguersiwal pass at 2,000 metres, enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. From the top of the pass, we descend along winding mule trails to reach the village of Aguersiwal, where we’ll stop for lunch. Following a short rest, we continue along the riverbed trail leading into the Imlil Valley. After about an hour, we arrive in Imlil, where our transport will be waiting to take us back to Marrakech.
